The seminar accomplished exactly what I wanted it to.

“Let me say again how appreciative all of us are for your presentation and the hard work that went into it. You gave us much food for thought, as well as opening our eyes to some new things that I, for one, have never thought about. Thanks again. The seminar accomplished exactly what I wanted it to.”

-Stephen Shaffer, Director of Office of Research, Department of State

...one of the most useful short courses that I've taken

“This has been an exhilarating class! I’ve enjoyed the content, the obvious experience – lots of examples, the clarity of presentation, the ample sources provided. It’s one of the most useful short courses that I’ve taken and I wish that I had done it a decade ago. Thank you”

…impressed with her ability to present useful material clearly, effectively, and in an entertaining manner

“I have had Naomi do presentations to our statistics group twice, and have been extremely impressed with her ability to present useful material clearly, effectively, and in an entertaining manner. I have received feedback from the audiences that support my impressions. I have no hesitation in recommending her.”

-David Rindskopf, Distinguished Professor at CUNY

She introduced staff to new ideas about presenting information graphically

“Dr. Naomi Robbins provided training on graphical presentation of statistical data to our agency, the Division of Science Resources Statistics (SRS) of the National Science Foundation… We were very pleased with Dr. Robbins work for SRS. She introduced staff to new ideas about presenting information graphically and provided us with tools we could utilize to actually pursue using some of these approaches within the constraints of the software package we use. She was easy to work with and was very responsive to tailoring her presentations to meet our interests, needs, and constraints. I would highly recommend her to another federal agency.”

-Mary Frase, Acting Division Director of the Division of Sciences Resources Studies

Her enthusiasm and effectiveness teaching those students correct graphs was amazing

“Naomi volunteered her knowledge and time during the Summer 2009 to the International Statistical Literacy Project of the International Statistical Institute (ISI)… She attended the Biennial Meeting of the ISI in Durban, South Africa, to teach students and their school teachers from all over the world ( who were participating in the First International Statistical Literacy Competition) how to do statistical graphs correctly. She taught them the basics, helped them make beautiful posters with correct graphs and helped them translate the data students collected in a survey of ISI meeting delegates. All this during the course of several days, actively engaged with both teachers and students. Her enthusiasm and effectiveness teaching those students correct graphs was amazing. The teachers and the students learned a lot and enjoyed working with her a lot. But Naomi has more than a generous heart towards education of Statistics and graphs. I have been a devoted follower of her presentations, have enriched my own career via discussions with her and have benefitted from her critical insights about things statistical that I say. Her book has been a source of inspiration throughout the years. She is brilliant and inspiring at the same time. Naomi is a colleague to cherish and never forget. I knew her in the American Statistical Association gatherings, where is very well known and respected as well.”

I’m already putting your presentation to work

“I’m already putting your presentation to work. I’m applying your valuable tips to my gap analysis report assignment to present to our medical writers! Last year, the medical writer group spent a large sum of money for an outside analyst report, but didn’t find that the report truly highlighted the gaps. There were not many graphs presented, and most were tables. I believe the gaps were difficult to see in that format. I am trying my hand and eye at creating more effective graphs to meet the writer’s needs. If my efforts work well, I expect they will be using our internal Library more often, and your workshop will have paid for itself many times over!”
